Set up in 2001, the .NAME domain name extension is the only one meant for personal sites only. These domains can be personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other titles people are known by. At the beginning, only 3rd-level registrations were possible, so if you planned to purchase john.doe.name, you were required to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was liberalized and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Already purchased 3rd-level domain names remained functional.

Through our company, you can acquire your .NAME domain for an interval between one and ten years. You will have the chance to switch the WHOIS contact info, to park your domain, to modify Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an already purchased domain to our company if you acquire its EPP transfer authorization key from the present registrar company and we will renew it once the transfer has been completed. There are no specific regulations on who can buy a .NAME domain, but in order to keep the goal behind its creation alive, the dot NAME Registry may check who the owner is and if there is no relation between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration may be challenged.
