A subdomain is a web address, that's under a main, or a root domain name. One example is something.domain.com, where domain.com is the main domain, while "something" is the subdomain below it. Every subdomain can have its own site and records i.e. apart from using the domain name as part of the whole web address, a subdomain can be entirely independent and even hosted by a different service provider. Using a subdomain can be quite useful if you wish to have different sites that are associated in some way. For example, you could have an on-line store under the main domain plus a forum under a subdomain in order to provide means for your clients to ask questions and / or share experiences about your products. The main advantage of using a subdomain as opposed to a subfolder is that the web sites are going to be separated, so you're able to update one of them or perform maintenance without affecting the other.
Subdomains in Cloud Hosting
Our cloud hosting packages will enable you to set up many subdomains for every domain hosted in your account without any problem. If the main domain is added, it takes 2 clicks to create a subdomain and pick what folder it'll open (if different from the default one), create unique error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, and much more. All subdomains will be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for convenient access and administration. By right-clicking on any of them and by using fast access buttons you can see the error logs, visitor statistics or website files for that particular subdomain. We have not set a limit for the amount of subdomains which you can create with any of our plans, so you can have as many as you want.
Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Servers
Our semi-dedicated hosting plans haven't got a set limit for the amount of subdomains which you can create. Adding a new subdomain within the account takes only a few mouse clicks in the Hepsia web hosting Control Panel and during the process you can pick the folder the subdomain is going to access if it will be different from the default one, set up custom-made error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions if you need them or create a dedicated IP address instead of the shared server one if you have added such an upgrade to your semi-dedicated account. As soon as the subdomain is set up, you will be able to access logs and visitor statistics or quickly jump to the website files for it within the File Manager area using fast access buttons. All subdomains you have within the account will be conveniently listed under their root domain, so you will be able to find and handle every single one of them with ease.
