SSH Telnet
Want to know what Telnet is and what it's used for?
Secure Shell, commonly known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol that is used to execute commands on a remote web server or to exchange information between a web server and a client. As the data exchanged by the 2 sides is encoded, a third party cannot intercept it, which makes SSH a preferred means of managing a web hosting account. The commands that can be executed are determined by the type of hosting service. On a shared server, in particular, the alternatives are limited since you won't have root access to the web server, so you could just create/move/delete files, set up and unpack archives, export and import databases, etc. They are all actions which are performed within the shared hosting account and do not need a higher level of access. Using a virtual or a dedicated server, you'll have the option to set up server-side software or to restart the hosting server or just a particular service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted via a command line, but if you do not use a UNIX-like OS, there are a number of applications for other OSs, you can use to connect to the remote hosting server as well.

SSH Telnet in Cloud Hosting
SSH access is provided with all
cloud plans which we offer you. With some of them, it's offered by default, while with others it is an optional upgrade you can include with several clicks from your website hosting CP. You can obtain SSH access through the section related to it in which you can also find the information that you need to connect - the host, the port number and the username. You could choose the password which you shall use and, if needed, you will be able to modify it with a couple of clicks from the same spot. All commands which may be used with our shared packages are listed inside a help article together with relevant examples. If the SSH access function is allowed for your account, you'll also be able to upload files using your favorite FTP client via an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers
When you have a
semi-dedicated server account with our company, you'll be able to obtain SSH access to it with just a click from the corresponding section of the Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with all accounts. If your plan doesn't support this feature by default, you shall be able to add it with ease using the Upgrades menu. Once you go to the SSH section, you shall find the details you need to connect to the server using a command line or a desktop app - the server/host, the port number, the username and the password. The latter may be updated at any time, if needed. These login credentials are also needed if you'd like to upload files through a secure connection and you want to use SFTP, which is also part of the SSH access service we provide. A complete list of the commands you can carry out will give you a better idea of what tasks you can perform in your account and each one is accompanied by a number of instances of the syntax.

SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
If you purchase a new
VPS server from our company, it shall come with full root access and you'll be able to connect to the server and to control everything through an SSH console. The feature is included as standard with all package deals, so you shall not need to enable or upgrade anything. Your server will be set up right after you order it and the instant you get the Welcome e mail with the login information, you could connect using the server’s primary IP address and start working. Because the VPS is a software emulation of a dedicated server and is isolated from the other accounts on the physical machine, there will be no restrictions in terms of the commands you can use. You shall have full root access, so that you may set up and run any app which can work on a Linux hosting server, manage files, folders and databases or start/stop/reboot the whole machine or any software operating on it.
